This conference is RESTRICTED to sworn / appointed members of the justice community who
are involved in investigation, intelligence, enforcement, supervision, detention or prosecution.
This includes police, institution and community corrections, border services, intel officers, crown
attorneys, victim service workers, prisoner transport, court services, and support staff. Due to
confidentiality, ONGIA reserves the right to refuse applications based on eligibility criteria. Any

IDEAS into ACTION
The theme of this year’s ONGIA conference is “ideas into action” and carries on the
tradition of last year’s theme of “ideas at work”. This conference is designed to
provide real-life tools and best practices that can immediately be applied among
the broad spectrum of agencies that are represented in our delegate group. It
couldn’t come at a more critical time in response to law enforcement staff safety,
public safety and public service. Organized crime groups, street gangs, extremists
and terrorists span all corners of the province, all ethnicities and all income levels.
Their indiscriminate use of violence and intimidation threatens the fabric of our
communities and concerned citizens look to law enforcement for action.
This conference will focus on how ideas can be and have been turned into action
and will have significant resilience in your career and workplace. Tools will be
provided to understand the current and emerging reality of organized and street
level crime, so I encourage you to attend.
In current fiscal climates, training and education are often the first expenditures to be
cut, but ONGIA has held the line on conference fees and accommodation fees to
maximize opportunity. Should you or your agency have any specific questions
regarding the event we would be pleased to provide a prompt answer. I hope to

What Can I Expect to Learn?
This year’s training is almost exclusively Canadian content and will focus on giving delegates a fulsome
and rounded curriculum that examines aspects of the gang and organized crime phenomenon in
Ontario. The value of intelligence, information and evidence will be probed ranging from informants to
court testimony and then to prison and community supervision. The delegate will learn from other
agencies and other viewpoints and come away with techniques that are beneficial to themselves, their
agency and the justice system.
What are the benefits to my organization?
Typically, training run by an agency only includes law enforcement members from that agency that are
similarly taught by members of the same agency. A key component of ONGIA conferences is
networking and contact building that pays huge dividends to agencies through increased reach and
scope of information available. The knowledge brought back from the training can be shared and will
have exponential benefits across the agency.
Will this aid my professional development?
Instruction will be provided by leading practitioners who have been carefully selected by ONGIA to
deliver maximum impact and information that can immediately be used. Delegates will also be
awarded a certificate of training, as well as a one year membership in the association. The delegate
will come away with training and tools that are unrivalled.
How will my participation contribute to stakeholder service for my agency?
Stakeholders look to law enforcement agencies to be proactive and ahead of the curve on many issues
affecting them. Being caught unaware, unprepared or uninformed does not instil confidence in the
community. At a conference like this, where ideas are tuned to action, it demonstrates a commitment
to stakeholder service.

Yes, ONGIA training events have been regularly cited on CV’s and are distinguished by their non-
